With its turboprop engines, the PC-7 TEAM is already one of the most fuel-efficient demonstration aircraft in the world.
The Swiss Air Force is increasingly flying with sustainable aviation fuel. This innovative fuel plays a crucial role in achieving the goal of net-zero CO2 emissions by 2050. In contrast to conventional fuel, SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel for short) produces practically no CO2 emissions during the flight and contains less sulphur and hydrocarbons.
SAF can already be added by up to 50% without technical modifications to the engines. This measure significantly reduces the ecological footprint without compromising performance or safety. Since 2023, the Swiss Air Force has also been flying with an increasing proportion of sustainable fuel, which shows that the shift towards more environmentally friendly solutions in the aviation industry is already underway.
With its turboprop engines, the PC-7 TEAM is already one of the most fuel-efficient demonstration teams in the world. In the coming years, the team will continue to strive to use an ever-increasing proportion of sustainable fuel in order to maximize its contribution to environmental protection and set an example for other display teams.
events and compensation
The aim of the DDPS is to reduce its CO2 emissions by at least 40% by 2030 compared to 2001. Since 2020, the DDPS has offset the remaining greenhouse gas emissions in full through emission reduction certificates. The Air Force is also making its contribution to the reduction. It has been tasked with reducing its CO2 emissions by 19% by 2030 compared to the average emissions from 2010 to 2020. With the introduction of the F-35A, the addition of SAF and the continuous increase in this over the coming years and decades, it is currently well on the way to achieving its goal.
Organizers therefore do not incur any CO2 compensation costs.

PC-7 TEAM for your event
Every year, the Swiss Air Force receives a considerable number of requests to participate in events of all kinds. The Air Force endeavors – within the scope of its possibilities – to comply with these requests and to demonstrate its equipment to a wide audience. You can find more information here.
